Way back when we were in our late teens, Fran had a show or something, and her friend Alison drove round to join us in the audience. Post-show it was back to North Stifford, and even though we had a good-sized drive, Alison had to park on the kerb by the road. So there we all were in the lounge when we heard a bang/crash! Someone had crashed into Alison's car and was about to drive off! Our Dad, without thinking, ran out of the house and jumped on the back of the open-backed truck. The truck drove off while Dad banged on the driver's window with a scaffold pole trying to get him to stop. The driver, probably scared (?) for his life at this point, and possibly shocked (?) at some of Dad's language just zigzagged through the village trying to throw him off! He eventually succeeded, lost Dad by the Green and drove off. The picture is an indication of the injuries sustained. Needless to say, sometimes Dad's instinct to do the right thing, isn't always the one that was best for him!
