I first met Clive in the autumn of 2008, it was my first Palmer’s Corporation meeting as a prospective Member and on being elected to join was duly asked to join the Risk & Audit committee. Clive was the Chair of that Committee and I’m honoured to say I served with him from 2008 right through to when he retired/left during the merger with Seevic in around 2016/17. Throughout that period Clive (as of course you’ll know) encountered personal and family health issues but they didn’t deviate him away from the undoubted commitment he had toward the College. In that time I learnt a lot from Clive, a wise man, subtlely humorous and definitely ‘old school’ in terms ethics and standards but certainly ‘up to speed’ in his vision and being proactive. Your description of him is a fantastic memory of what he was, always there to offer his wealth of knowledge and help in whatever shape or form he could. Sadly another part of ‘my Thurrock’ has gone....but never to be forgotten!
